We realize that this can be a difficult time; the ACT Pathway is a step-by-step guide that will help you through this.

You are not alone

1 in 6 couples fail to achieve the pregnancy they desire within the first 12 months of trying. Even though there are many simple and effective ways of improving the chances of achieving a pregnancy, 94% of these people do not seek the help they need.

Many people do not seek the help they deserve in the first place because they feel the only route open to them is in vitro fertilization (IVF) or because of a fear of being incorrectly labeled "infertile" when in fact they are just having difficulty getting pregnant and therefore need help to succeed. For those that do seek help, many find the process lengthy, confusing and often simply give up.

If you are one of those 1 in 6 couples, this website contains information and resources to help you through every step on the pathway towards achieving a pregnancy.

Getting help…
The Assisted Conception Taskforce (ACT), made up of patient leaders and health professionals from around the world, joined together earlier this year and as its name suggests, aims to guide people in their efforts to become pregnant by providing information and guidance about the variety of simple and effective approaches that can be used, including oral medications and hormone treatments.

Your step-by-step guide to achieving a pregnancy
The Assisted Conception Taskforce has produced the ACT Pathway booklet for anyone who is currently trying to have a baby. It outlines all the options available to you at each stage in the process. The ACT Pathway also contains key information to assist you in your decision making, including describing the emotional and physical challenges you may face, the key questions you can ask and how long you should expect to remain at each stage of the assisted conception pathway.

To give you confidence in your clinic
To give you confidence in the clinics that you can turn to for help, ACT have also drawn up the ACT Charter which defines a set of care principles to which healthcare providers are being asked to sign up to. The Charter describes the type of information, support and choice that you have a right to expect from all caring clinics.

Your guide to finding a clinic or support organization near you
Find the support organizations in your area that have signed up to the ACT Charter and the clinics near you that have committed to upholding its principles, by searching the Center Locator.

Share your experiences
For those of you who have already benefited from the ACT Pathway, tell us about your experiences. Encourage others not to settle for anything less than the principles of care outlined in the ACT Charter.
